Cumulus Media has announced a landmark deal to acquire three radio stations, setting off a series of frequency realignment signals across Alabama and Georgia. The non-profit Christian broadcaster Radio Training Network has secured exclusive rights to “Nash Icon 93.3” (WWFF Huntsville), “100.5 The Game” (WWFN Florence), and classic hip-hop “OG 97.9” (W250BC) from Cumulus Media for a staggering $2.45 million. These acquisitions mark a strategic shift in both broadcast infrastructure and listener engagement, as the sale aligns the stations with broader market trends and enhances signal efficiency. With the pending transaction, “OG 97.9” will transition to 98.9 FM on Cumulus’ translator W255CJ, which currently simulcasts “99X” (WNNX). Meanwhile, “OG” will move from Cumulus’ CHR “Q99.7” to HD2, which also simulcasts “99X,” effectively repositioning the station’s identity. These changes underscore a commitment to optimizing assets while reinforcing the brands’ visibility across multiple channels. Justin Schaflander, Cumulus Atlanta’s VP/Market Manager, highlighted that the realignment process strengthens signal efficiency and positions the network for continued growth. This decision reflects a calculated approach to adapting to evolving listener preferences and leveraging existing infrastructure for long-term success.
